Startup Growth: BECA


Bilingual Education for Central America (BECA) works with the poorest communities to provide affordable bilingual education. I joined BECA in 2006 as a teacher and lived over a year in Honduras’ largest slum to better understand the market conditions and needs of these communities. Today, I am equipped to deliver viable solutions that answer to the needs of emerging markets.

Approach. was at a turning point. Demand for the program was increasing throughout the country, but BECA needed a plan to achieve sustainable growth to fund its expansion. I joined BECA’s first Board and we launched  new bsiness model, shifting focus to training platform and new revenue streams. I provided strategic direction, fundraising and marketing material.

 

Results. BECA has since increased revenue by 150%, expanded operations into 3 new communities and now reaches xyz people and xyz volunteers.
